Dirilyte is a metal developed by Carl molin, a Swedish metallurgist, in 1914. He originally called this metal 'Dirigold'. In 1924, Molin's partner, Oscar Von Malmborg, moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to establish a distribution company, and soon a manufacturer, in the United States. In 1920, Dirigold was awarded the Grand Prize and Gold Metal for its exhibit at the International Sesqui-Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. In 1935, the Federal Trade Commission brought suit against the company, charging that the name was misleading as there was no gold in the metal. It was renamed Dirilyte at this time. Not a plated metal--the gold color is solid all through and will never wear off.
